Celebrating 10 Years of Aura

By Abdur Chowdhury and Eric Jensen | October 5, 2026

Ten years ago, we introduced our first digital frame with the goal of making it easier to feel close to the people you love.

We believed the photos we took should be shared and part of everyday life, bringing back favorite memories and helping us feel close even when we’re far apart. We thought others might feel the same, so we created a growing line-up of Aura frames and Aura app, a private platform with no scrolling or digital fatigue. Life moments get brought into the everyday without any extra work.

In 2016, we introduced our first Aura frames just before the holidays, and we quickly sold through our first couple thousand. Ten years later, more than 10 million people around the world use Aura, and they shared more than a billion photos to their Aura frames last year alone. We're going into what we expect to be our biggest holiday season yet; sharing is already up 40% this year. But we're proudest of this number: nearly half of the frames set-up in year one are still showing photos today.

We’re incredibly grateful for the growth. But what matters most to us is what’s behind those numbers: millions of families choosing to make their photos part of their lives.

We hear about loved ones watching kids grow from across the world, a single photo bringing back a memory or making someone’s day, and customers who tell us Aura is the most thoughtful gift they’ve ever given or received. Last Christmas Day, so many of you gifted Aura that we were the #1 app in the US App Store.

So, ten years in, we just want to say thank you.

Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or just joined Aura, we’re grateful you’ve trusted us with your memories and the people who matter most to you.

And we have more to come. We have exciting new products and updates in the works that we can’t wait to share later this year.

With gratitude, and many more memories ahead,

Abdur Chowdhury and Eric Jensen
